Meet Jodie
Helping You On Your Journey ..
Jodie is an Accredited Psychotherapist, Accredited Clinical Supervisor, Trainer, and passionate advocate for inclusive and accessible mental health support. With more than 20 years of diverse professional experience, alongside her own lived experience, she is deeply committed to supporting clinicians and professionals through reflective supervision, consultation, and values-led training.
Her work is grounded in the belief that every person deserves to feel seen, heard, understood, and affirmed in their unique identity and experiences.
Mainstone Consulting was founded from Jodie’s deep-rooted passion for creating meaningful change. Shaped by her neurodivergence, strong sense of justice, and unwavering belief in human potential for growth and learning, these aspects of her identity are fully integrated into every aspect of her work.
Today, Jodie provides supervision for practitioners working towards EMDR accreditation and delivers specialist training on neurodivergence, inclusivity, mental health, trauma-informed practice, and related topics. Known for her dynamic, engaging, and authentic presentation style, she combines warmth, humour, and professional depth to create learning experiences that are both thought-provoking and practical. Her focus remains on supporting meaningful change within mental health systems and professional practice.
Jodie’s therapeutic approach is informed by attachment theory, trauma-informed frameworks, and person-centred values. Central to her practice are deep listening, attunement, curiosity, and a respectful appreciation of difference. While her own experiences have shaped her understanding of healing and growth, she honours the uniqueness of every individual’s journey, meeting each person with compassion, respect, and care.
She firmly rejects a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, supervision, and professional development. Instead, she supports clinicians to recognise, understand, and affirm difference, helping them develop thoughtful, ethical adaptations that genuinely meet the needs of the people they work with.
As the parent of three remarkable neurodivergent children, Jodie often reflects on how profoundly they have influenced both her personal and professional worldview. Parenting has challenged her to confront the ableism present within her own upbringing, examine unconscious biases, and advocate for respectful, affirming approaches to difference.
Outside of her professional work, Jodie actively supports and champions a local charity for neurodivergent children and their families. She collaborates closely with parents navigating systems that frequently struggle to meet the needs of all children, helping families foster emotional wellbeing, self-worth, and positive mental health outcomes. Her work is informed by both current research and lived experience, with particular attention to the long-term impact of societal misunderstanding and lack of accommodation for neurodivergent people.
